Mrs. Lucienne Kováts – the wife of the late Professor Ervin sz. Kováts – and the Hungarian Society for Separation Sciences (HSSS) are proud to announce a call for applications for the Ervin sz. Kováts award for young scientists.

The 2019 Ervin sz. Kováts award for young scientists honors PhD dissertations accomplished by young researchers, defended or published between January 2017 and December 2018. All aspects and branches of separation science are considered. The award is endowed with an amount of 4000 CHF in addition to a diploma.

The applications will be examined by a selection committee composed by the Board of HSSS. The award will be conferred during the 12th Balaton Symposium on High-Performance Separation Methods which will be held in Siófok, Hungary, September 11–13, 2019. The recipient will be invited on this occasion to give an oral presentation at the Symposium. HSSS will offer a complimentary registration and accommodation during the Symposium but no travel allowance will be provided. The candidates will be informed of the results by the end of June 2019.
The Ervin sz. Kováts award for young scientists is presented every two years at the Balaton Symposia to promising young scientists for the excellent research they present in their PhD dissertation.

The following documents should be submitted in English or in Hungarian with the application as pdf files by e-mail:

  • a letter of application with the applicant’s full address and e-mail address,
  • a curriculum vitae and list of publications of the applicant,
  • the full PhD dissertation; if the dissertation is not in English or Hungarian, an extended (10-15 pages) summary in English,
  • a short English abstract (no more than 2 pages),
  • the report of the jury or the reviewers of the dissertation, if any,
  • a copy of the PhD certificate,
  • a recommendation letter from the PhD advisor/supervisor.
